Aug. 1982-Sep. 1985 PhD thesis at the IGV-KFA Juelich, Germany, and at the University of Aachen on: "HREELS  investigation of the vibrational spectrum of Ni(001) and its modifications in presence of ordered and disordered phases of O, S and C."

Since March 1984 Firstly Researcher, then Associate Professor and since 2001 Full Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy

a) elastic He atom scattering and selective adsorption phenomena;

b) surface phonon dispersion;

c) electronic excitations and surface plasmons;

d) dynamics of gas-surface interaction with supersonic molecular beams;

e) Role of defects in gas-surface interaction, simple chemical reaction and oxide nucleation

 f) Chemical reactivity of ultra-thin oxide films
