XII International Conference

on Vibrations at Surfaces

( VAS 12 )

Erice (Italy), July 20-26, 2007

Major topics and format

The 12nd International Conference on Vibrations at Surfaces will bring together experienced and young researchers as well as students working in surface vibrational spectroscopy, surface dynamics and in the development of new techniques for the understanding of the vibrational properties of surfaces and interfaces which are relevant to the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and engineering.

The Conference is the twelfth edition of a series of meetings which started in Julich in 1978 and was followed, with a periodicity of two to three years, by the conferences of Namur (1980), Asilomar (1982), Bowness-on-Windermere (1985), Eibsee (1987), Shelter Island (1990), Santa Margherita (1993), Birmingham (1996), Yahama (1998), Saint Malo (2001) and Atlantic-Oakes-by-the-Sea (2004).

Contributions are welcome from both experimental and theoretical surface vibrational spectroscopy and dynamics, including (but not limited to):

Single molecule vibrational spectroscopy

Chemical reactions at surfaces

Time resolved spectroscopy

Ab-initio surface dynamics

New techniques for vibrational spectroscopic

Adsorption at the solid-vacuum, solid-liquid and liquid-gas interfaces

Energy transfer at surfaces

Vibrational dynamics in biology

The Conference will consists of about 27 invited lectures  and several oral contributions and poster sessions.
